Three youngsters from Lowen Tucker family stand by trees near a fence. This was along Poplar Lane (so called because it had many Lombardy Poplars along it) on Elias J."Lucky" Baldwin Ranch. Lane led from center of ranch west to training track. L-R: Irna Tucker, Bud Doble, and Vesta Tucker.
Large group of people seated at tables outdoors. Overhead are paper lanterns. Group is at Japanese "community" in Arcadia which apparently was near Holly Avenue below Huntington, for a performance of the MIKADO. Man directly in front (center, no hat) is Ed Ryan, caretaker at Baldwin racetrack. On his lap is his daughter, whom Vesta Tucker Reeves and her sister did not like so they scratched over her photo with a pin. Girl seen over his left shoulder, is Vesta Tucker. The lady next to her is not identified. The girl with the long necklace sitting on the lap of the unidentified lady near Mr. Ryan, is Dextra Baldwin. Small boy on left on Japanese man's lap, is Baldwin M. Baldwin. The man, three figures away from camera in row Dextra is in, is her grandfather, Elias J."Lucky" Baldwin. Large man in light suit just to right of Mr. Ryan, is Mr. Johnson, who owned Johnson's Inn. Seen on extreme right, man with mustache and white hair, is Blas Cuellar, the wine maker.
Close up of five Board of Trustees for City of Arcadia (now, City Council). Upper left, Hiram Unruh; upper right, Melville Lawrence (manager of Oakwood Hotel). Lower left, Harold Stocker; lower right, George Lowen Tucker; center, E.J.Baldwin. This was from first issue of Arcadia Bulletin.
Woman (probably Nell Schrader) standing behind large sign reading ARCADIA GARAGE, WALTER A. SCHRADER PROPRIETOR. There is also a sign advertising Penzoil for sale.
Nell Schrader in hiking attire pictured sitting on a boulder in mountains north of Arcadia. She was wife of member of City Council in 1930's, Walter Schrader.
Another view of Oakwood Hotel just after being destroyed by fire. Standing beside structure are an older and younger sister of Vesta Tucker Reeves. Their father was Lowen Tucker, ranch foreman for Elias J."Lucky" Baldwin.
Mayor Martin H. Ormsby on left; City Treasurer, Emma Hainer seated, at center; and City Clerk, Clint Billig, on right are seen in Mrs. Hainer's office in City Hall at First Street and Huntington Drive. Note round wall safe next to her desk. Daughter, Alberta Fluke remembers that the Arcadia Public Library could be seen to the north out of this window.

Many horses with riders are seen galloping west across infield of original Elias J."Lucky" Baldwin Santa Anita Race Track. We were told by Vesta Tucker Reeves, that the infield was used for rodeos when racing season was not in progress. This apparently was taken from grandstand.
Four male kitchen helpers in white aprons and cap at Santa Anita Assembly Center for the Japanese, show 9 huge pans of what looks to be spaghetti ready to be served.
First building used as City Hall. (The very first City Hall offices were located in the Oakwood Hotel and next in the McCoy Building.) This apparently was known as the A.W. Hibbard Building (see Eberly, p. 69) and was used for only about two years; June 1914 to April 1916. It was on First Street at LaPorte. Sign on left above window reads: Standard Oil Co. Scrip Accepted. Back of photo reads, "first City Hall, 1913, Walter and Nell Schrader. Mr. Schrader converted old City Hall into garage." Arcadia Garage building shown with a car/truck "for sale" and a little boy posing by the back tire.

Arcadia Public Library Board photographed at meeting. Left to right: Dexter Jones, Mrs. Herman Snider, Gene Gregg (standing), Chairman J.L. Young, City Councilman Conrad Reibold (standing), Helen Kinnison, City Librarian Grace Clark.
Pictured is clapboard, flat roofed garage with Arcadia Garage sign in view. It is believed to be what was called the Hibbard Building where City Hall offices were housed for a brief time. It was later converted to a garage by Walter Schrader. A small unidentified boy stands near what looks like a 1920's Model T.
Vi Chaffers, on left, Children's Librarian at Arcadia Public Library, 20 W. Duarte Road. She is looking at large cartoon-part of art show in Art & Lecture Room. Talking with her about piece is Gilbert Castruita, Library Custodian.
