Joshua Martin Parra-Davis, 23, of Arcadia, pleaded not guilty in Pasadena Superior Court, to charges of possessing and leaving an explosive device in a backpack near a bank on Foothill Boulevard in Arcadia, on Friday, January 14, 2011. He is charged with four felony counts, including possession of a destructive device near a school. Parra-Davis, a former Foothills Middle School student, was seen opening a classroom door last Friday and then later was seen dropping the backpack into some bushes. The bag contained what appeared to be a homemade explosive.

Joshua Parra-Davis, 23, of Arcadia, was allegedly found with a bomb after visiting Foothills Middle School on January 14, 2011. He will face four felony counts of possession of a destructive or explosive device. He is being held at Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic, and due back at Pasadena Superior Court on June 15 to enter a plea. If convicted of all four felony counts, he could face up to 19 years in prison.

Ryan Michaelson, 20, of Temple City, and Andrew Hernandez, 32, of Rosemead were arrested by Arcadia police on Friday. Michaelson was booked on suspicion of transporting an explosive device. Hernandez allegedly pulled the pin on a hand grenade and held police at bay for 5 hours. A hostage negotiation team convinced him to surrender.

Authorities have released Joshua Connole of Pomona, a suspect in the August 22 vehicle vandalisms labeled by FBI as acts of ecoterrorism. More than $2 million in damage was caused by vandals claiming affiliation with the Earth Liberation Front. John Corina, a detective for Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, said video footage from the Gold Line train and businesses near the scene of the shooting last Friday, of two teenagers, supports the border agent's version of the story, that three teenagers attempted to rob him. One teen was shot dead. The border patrol agent is unnamed.

Two shot to death Wednesday morning, August 1, in the alley near 816 Sunset Boulevard in Arcadia. Los Angeles Sheriff Department says it looks like a murder-suicide. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the second victim later died at hospital from self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Later identified as Mel Liu and Cherry Liu, an estranged married couple.

A high speed police chase that began in Pasadena, then went through Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte and several other San Gabriel Valley cities, ended in the driving crashing into another car. The suspect was Edgar Angarita, 45, of Hollywood and the 21-year-old woman from Baldwin Park that he crashed into, are both being treated at the hospital. Police say Angarita was intoxicated. The chase occurred Monday, January 24. He is being held on suspicion of felony evading a police officer, but additional charges may be coming.
