The National Guard Armory building has been demolished and a portion of Arcadia Police Department, that recently housed the men's and women's locker rooms, has been demolished to make way for construction of a new $16 million police facility. A ceremonial groundbreaking will take place in the area behind the current police facility at 250 W. Huntington Drive, on September 28.

Arcadia city officials adopt a 5-year redevelopment plan. The major goals are the expansion of the Rusnak Mercedes Benz auto dealership, development around the future Gold Line station and several affordable housing programs. The city demolished the Church of Arcadia's old building at 21 Morlan Place in September to make room for a parking lot that could be used by Rusnak.

Arcadia City Council unanimously approved a plan to let the city of El Monte annex 5.19 acres of vacant land near Durfee Avenue and Clark Street. The plan is to have 34 units of homes developed there. Next, the matter goes to Los Angeles County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO).

Ryan Brock, 29, of San Gabriel, was shot several times in the chest Wednesday, April 13, 2005 in the parking lot of 99 Ranch Market and later died. Police believe it was not a random robbery gone bad but there may have been a relationship between the suspect and the victim. The suspect appeared to be Latino, around age 20. Police are seeking help from witnesses.
