Arcadia police officers Toni Caylor and Mike Cervantes introduced DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) to 5th graders in Arcadia in 1995. Those same students will be graduating from high school this month. Officers Brian Ortiz and John Bonomo are the current DARE officers.

The Arcadia Police Department has moved to a new police station building at 250 W. Huntington Drive, Arcadia, CA, 91007, that is 42,000 square feet and cost $16 million. The official opening ceremony will be October 3, 2003. The old building that was built around 1956 will be demolished in a few weeks. The department is authorized to employ seventy-five swon officers. The shortage has caused cuts to programs. Other San Gabriel Valley police agencies are suffering from lack of qualified applicants.

New Arcadia police station opens to the public on Friday, October 3, 2003 at 4:30 PM. It is a state-of-the-art facility that is now bigger and better equipped than the old station that has since been demolished. It waas built using an $8 million bond measure in addition to $8 million that had alerady been allocated from the city general fund and city redevelopment funds.

He will serve through October 21 and then the position will rotate to John Wuo (October 21-January 4), Mickey Segal (January 4-April 20). Gail Marshall was mayor through April 15 of this year.
