Volume I no. 1 issue of first Arcadia newspaper, THE ARCADIA BULLETIN. Paper included an article on the opening of Clara Villa which opened May 3, 1904. The paper has photos of five members of the Board of Trustees (now City Council) and also one of Arcadia's first City Marshall, Elmer Anderson and his brother, Charles Anderson, City Treasurer.

Home of Arcadia's home newspaper. Today's first issue of the Arcadia Bulletin is the third newspaper published from the stucco building shown in picture, at 530 North First Avenue. D.H. Roush and his son Frank G. Roush started the Weekly News in this community in 1924, then the Tribune in 1930, now the Arcadia Bulletin. See hard copy in subject file Newspapers.

Santa Anita Racetrack back in the day. A stroll down memory lane courtesy of Arcadia Historical Society and Arcadia's Best. Photo shown of Clara Baldwin Stocker and her friends at her father's Santa Anita Racetrack in 1907. Clara Baldwin Stocker had a house on Foothill Boulevard and an establishment called "Clara Villa."
View east shows two balloons aloft over Arcadia and San Gabriel Valley. It is possible that first river up from bottom of photo is Rio Hondo Wash. Some of trees along Santa Anita appear to be in extreme lower right of photo. Tree-lined street showing in extreme lower left of photo is Duarte Road. Second river coming into photo about five inches up from bottom of photo would be San Gabriel River.
This week's San Gabriel Valley high school baseball rankings have Arcadia High School in first place. The Arcadia High School Apaches are 8-0 in the Pacific League.
Arcadia will have a weekly newspaper again - the ARCADIA WEEKLY. The paper will be in the same building as the old ARCADIA TRIBUNE that closed its doors in July 1992. Publisher Von Raees accepts the first subscription from Mayor Barbara Kuhn.
