Volume I no. 1 issue of first Arcadia newspaper, THE ARCADIA BULLETIN. Paper included an article on the opening of Clara Villa which opened May 3, 1904. The paper has photos of five members of the Board of Trustees (now City Council) and also one of Arcadia's first City Marshall, Elmer Anderson and his brother, Charles Anderson, City Treasurer.
Close up of five Board of Trustees for City of Arcadia (now, City Council). Upper left, Hiram Unruh; upper right, Melville Lawrence (manager of Oakwood Hotel). Lower left, Harold Stocker; lower right, George Lowen Tucker; center, E.J.Baldwin. This was from first issue of Arcadia Bulletin.
View east shows two balloons aloft over Arcadia and San Gabriel Valley. It is possible that first river up from bottom of photo is Rio Hondo Wash. Some of trees along Santa Anita appear to be in extreme lower right of photo. Tree-lined street showing in extreme lower left of photo is Duarte Road. Second river coming into photo about five inches up from bottom of photo would be San Gabriel River.
Copied from a newspaper clipping, so quality is not good. Photo shows an unidentified lady in long dress standing beside auto (c. 1935) in front of 104 N. First Ave. At this time this building housed the Arcadia Tribune. Small house seen at right edge of photo is 100 N. First which was built in 1919 by Dr. Fletcher Sanborn.
Clara Baldwin Stocker on left with an unidentified woman appear to be feeding sea gulls near the beach. Handwriting on bottom of photo states, "Clara & (?) Venise(sic) 1915."
Vi Chaffers Mahr at the wheel of a convertible decorated for Arcadia Public Library's entry in Arcadia's 50th birthday party parade. San Gabriel Valley Lumber Company building is visible in the background. Location is approximately First Avenue and Wheeler Street.
Clara Baldwin Stocker standing on the right with an unidentified woman. They are standing at rail. Clara appears to be holding a small stuffed dog on the rail. Handwriting on the bottom of the photo reads, "Coney Island 1914."
Clara Baldwin Stocker and Walter McGinley are seated in an arcade-type wicker car marked "Atlantic City." Clara appears to be wearing the same clothes as in photo #1552.
Clara Baldwin Stocker's personal railroad car, "The California," with two men standing in the center of the photo. Man on the left appears to be Walter McGinley. Man on right is unidentified.
Photograph of a yacht. Handwriting along bottom of photo reads, "San Pedro 1915." Possibly the yacht Clara Baldwin Stocker was supposed to have purchased with part of her inheritance from her father, Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin.
