Arcadia City Council has approved $55,000 to the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce for services such as providing information on the city to brokers, real estate agents, merchants, business people, new residents, and the general public. The Chamber prepares a monthly community calendar, a business hotline, a newsletter, an annual Civic Directory, a bi-annual map and a business directory. The city also lets the Chamber use the building they're in for no charge.

Survivors of a bus crash on Santa Anita Avenue that happened 50 years ago, on July 14, 1959, recall the accident. The bus had been carrying a group of boys from a Catholic summer camp at Chantry Flat. Brakes failed coming down the steep grade of Santa Anita Avenue. The crash killed 3-year-old Cory Matson. Developer Rick Caruso spoke to a crowd of more than 800 people at the Arcadia Masonic Temple about plans for The Shops at Santa Anita at a Planning Commission meeting. The public was invited to voice their opinions in 3-minute blocks of time. Caruso had supporters among police and firefighters unions, Chamber of Commerce, Arcadia Unified School District, several homeowners associations, and city officials. 369 people at the meeting signed a petition opposing the project.
