Louise Brandsma was the first female patrol officer in 1978 and first woman sergeant in 1983 in Arcadia Police Department. Catherine Murphy is a retired City Treasurer and WASP (Women's Air Force Service Pilot). Marie Schmitt is one of the city's first woman physicians. Mickey Ball and Mary Young were WAVES (Women's Auxiliary of Volunteer Service for the U.S. Navy).
