Pine's Cafe was still located near the SW corner of Huntington Drive and First Avenue. A sign reading "19 cent Burger" in the middle is prominent, as if "Real Pit Bar-B-Q" on the left.

This appears to be intersection of Las Tunas and Temple City Blvd. Building seen at top of photo is probably Vernon's Pharmacy of Temple City, located on NW corner of this intersection. There is a companion photo to this photo, #643. Vera Van Iaawarden, who lives in Temple City, says her father believes this was a balloon ascension.

The location has been identified as near intersection of Las Tunas Drive and (with what seem to be railroad tracks in center) Temple City Boulevard. The building (we see only roof) in the lower left corner is Vernon's Pharmacy. The letters VGS can be seen over front entry. There are probably about 100 autos parked nearby. (There is another photo of this event, #539.)

Stone house at 58 W. Grandview. Small girl in foreground possibly Dextra Baldwin. Anita Baldwin purchased 22 acres of her father's land for $10.00 on March 8, 1892. (see Arcadia VF-Baldwin, Anita) Anita's father built stone cottage in May 1902 on lot 7 and part of lots 8&9 in block 98 of Santa Anita Tract. (This information came from Mrs. Sharlene Cartier, who owned the house in 1973.)

This photograph was published in the Arcadia Tribune, August 20, 1956 with the caption: Here comes mama--By all indications from this picture, it looks as if the children weren't the only ones who were having a good time at the recent Arcadia Recreation Department city-wide track meet. The Tribune camera caught Mrs. Mary Turner as she broke the tape in the "feature" race of the afternoon. Running a close second in the event is Mrs. John Panatier followed across the finish line by Mrs. Lucas.
