This was to be developed into the Arboretum.

Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin on left and Richard F. Carman Sr., one of America's early horsemen. Photo was taken probably about 1907 and printed in newspaper of March 1937 at the time of Carman's death. Carman's horses won four races and placed second in two others on opening day of Baldwin's Santa Anita Race Track.
Santa Anita School Mrs. Rutherford's fifth grade classroom photo by Thompson Photo Service, Los Angeles (from the envelope which has been discarded). The school was located at 1900 South Santa Anita Avenue from about 1950 until June, 1981. In 1982, Arcadia Christian School moved in to this location. (Their daughter told us in 1980 that everyone called her father Jack.) Mrs. Ott is wearing a lavishly feathered hat and a tailored suit. Marshall Ott is wearing a dark double-breasted suit with his badge.
"Ye Fairy of Ye Oak," 1915 Pasadena Tournament of Roses float entered by Mrs. Anita Baldwin McClaughry. Dextra McClaughry (age 13) and Baldwin McClaughry (age 10), children of Anita, rode on the float. Dextra, the Queen of Fairyland, stood beneath a spreading oak while the floor of the carriage was converted into a meadowland of softest green upon which shell pink roses, lilies-of-the-valley and hyacinths grew.
Shopping Bag Market (which is listed in 1939 City Directory at 1225 S. Baldwin) and the West Arcadia Service Station (apparently owned at this time by Blake Smith and Bruce Wetmore), located at 1221 S. Baldwin.
