West Arcadia Service Station, designed in Spanish style architecture including red tile roof located at 1221 S. Baldwin, was operated by Bruce Wetmore and Blake Smith. Man working on car is Bruce Wetmore. Shell Gasoline. Gilmore Red Lion.
Home (at right side of photo) and business building owned by Dr. and Mrs. Fletcher G. Sanborn. Home was at 100 N. First and contained the doctor's office for his practice. The office block contained the numbers 102-104 N. First Ave. Photo was taken shortly after completion.

This photograph was published in the Arcadia Tribune, August 20, 1956 with the caption: Here comes mama--By all indications from this picture, it looks as if the children weren't the only ones who were having a good time at the recent Arcadia Recreation Department city-wide track meet. The Tribune camera caught Mrs. Mary Turner as she broke the tape in the "feature" race of the afternoon. Running a close second in the event is Mrs. John Panatier followed across the finish line by Mrs. Lucas.
