Strub, long time Vice-President and General Manager of the Los Angeles Turf Club and credited with founding of Santa Anita Park; Gwynn Wilson, Treasurer and Assistant General Manager, and Robert P. This photograph was published in the Arcadia Tribune, August 20, 1956 with the caption: Here comes mama--By all indications from this picture, it looks as if the children weren't the only ones who were having a good time at the recent Arcadia Recreation Department city-wide track meet. The Tribune camera caught Mrs. Mary Turner as she broke the tape in the "feature" race of the afternoon. Running a close second in the event is Mrs. John Panatier followed across the finish line by Mrs. Lucas.

There are two other unidentified people at the rear of the vehicle and one unidentified woman seated on the running board in the front right corner of the photo. Handwriting on the bottom of the photo reads, "August 11th 1914."
A handsomely painted wagon, for the Peach Blossom Parade, bearing SANTA ANITA on side, pulled by 4 work horses, is passing by a building with a sign for BARBOUR'S PRESERVING CO. City Directory locates this business at 27 1/2 Huntington Drive.

These people identified: extreme left, John McWilliams, driver and owner; Sammy Wilson in big hat; Ben Crews (pharmacist whose daughter was a Monrovia librarian), Archie Wiggins, in apron. (note: Donkey would pull the car up the hill and when it made the run back down Myrtle, donkey would stand on a platform at back of car and ride down.)
