The Arcadia Redevelopment Agency may sell 3.74 Acres of land on the northeast corner of Huntington Drive and Second Avenue to Grand Royale Hometel for 1.3 million dollars. After the parcel is sold, the city plans to rezone the property for the developers raising the value to about 3.5 million.

Former Arcadia man accused of lying, losing millions of investors' money. James Arthur McDonald, Jr. former CEO and Chief Investment Officer of Hercules Investments LLC and Index Strategy Advisors Inc. was charged with one count of securities fraud. Prosecutors claim McDonald lost clients of his Los Angeles-based firm Hercules millions of dollars in late 2020. He had been renting a home in Arcadia.

Arcadia voters will consider whether or not to ban "safe and sane" fireworks. The sale of fireworks has been the local American Legion Post's chief source of funds. Arcadia property owners have suffered over a quarter of a million dollars in property damage from fireworks over the past six years.

Monrovia man Yi Chen gets 4 years in prison for fraud in a student visa scheme to get Chinese immigrants into the U.S. unlawfully. From June 2015-February 2021, Chen was the CEO and owner of two so-called educational consulting companies in Alhambra and Arcadia that charged foreign students thousands of dollars for "guaranteed" admission to a college that would lead to the issuance of an F-1 student visa. Ryan Brock, 29, of San Gabriel, was shot several times in the chest Wednesday, April 13, 2005 in the parking lot of 99 Ranch Market and later died. Police believe it was not a random robbery gone bad but there may have been a relationship between the suspect and the victim. The suspect appeared to be Latino, around age 20. Police are seeking help from witnesses.

Mary Chiu sued nursing home Arcadia Health Care Center for the negligent care that her mother Sui Mee Chiu received. In October 2013, an arbitrator ruled that Sui Mee Chiu had been a victim of elder abuse, negligence and wrongful death, and her daughter Mary Chiu was awarded more than half a million dollars. The investigation is still in progress and Public Health is inquiring into the cause of the delay in the final report and closure of this case.
