Race horse Majestic Harbor, ridden by jockey Tyler Baze, wins the $500,000 Gold Cup at Santa Anita Park yesterday. The Gold Cup was formerly known as the Hollywood Gold Cup when it was run at Hollywood Park race track.

A group of friends that grew up together in or near Arcadia, who joined a Camp Fire Girls troop together seven decades ago, reunited 6 years ago and now meet monthly. Caltech graduate Tyler Johnson, who had been identified as a suspect in the firebombing and vandalism of more than 130 sport utility vehicles (SUVs) at automobile dealerships in the San Gabriel Valley in 2003, has died in an avalanche while hiking in the Corsian mountains in France on December 26, 2009. Johnson has been a fugitive for the past six years. Surveillance cameras captured Johnson and William ("Billy") Cottrell spray painting environmental slogans on the cars at Rusnak Mercedes Benz in Arcadia in 2003. Cottrell was convicted.

Based on the description and surveillance video, Arcadia police believe the same man may have robbed two 7-Eleven stores this month. The most recent robbery took place on May 20 at the 7-Eleven at Live Oak and Tyler Avenues. The previous crime occurred on May 10 at the 7-Eleven at 1003 S. Baldwin Avenue in Arcadia.

The coroner's spokesperson Craig Harvey, says an autopsy has confirmed that Li Zhu died of asphyxia, and the death was ruled a suicide. Li Zhu was a 68-year-old Arcadia man found hanging in his jail cell on January 8. He was arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing his daughter-in-law, Xiaolin Li, in the 900 block of Arcadia Avenue.
