Fisher family reunion celebrated during Monrovia Day. Forty-four descendants of Julian Fisher and Gladys Fisher are still around in this area. Julian Fisher was Monrovia's first African American police officer and his father was recruited to come work on Lucky Baldwin's race horses. Julian and Gladys Fisher had 11 children.

Taste of Arcadia will take place September 23, 2013 at the Los Angeles County Arboretum, and will feature a red carpet experience, Peter Dills, the official celebrity ambassador of Taste of Arcadia and host of "Dining with Dills" on KABC-AM 790 Talk Radio, Arcadia Mayor Mickey Segal, Daniela Brazil and Oya Brazil Samba Show dancers, Lynda Kay (critically acclaimed singer), filmmaker Adam Ravetch, among others.
