Arcadia's crime drops in 2019. Compared to 2018, there was a 28% drop in residential burglaries, a 17% decrease in robberies, and an 11% reduction in assaults.
Why the Arcadia Police Department is reporting an overall crime decrease. This most recent quarter (May 1-July 31) has seen a reduction of 10.5% to 11% in residential burglaries compared to the same time period last year.
"Blind Justice," an 11-foot tall tile mural at the police station dating back to the 1950s, will not be preserved when the new police station is built. The mural was judged not to have significant artistic or historical merit. The mural will be archived, with some element maintained for display in the new building.
