The Arcadia Historical Society building was recently moved to its permanent location across from the Chamber of Commerce in Arcadia Park. The building was moved from 30 North Santa Anita Avenue to First Avenue just south of Huntington Drive.
With the Arcadia Historical Society museum building now completed on the inside, the society's board of directors is planning to appoint committees to catalog and determine how to display its collection of artifacts.
Demolition permits have been approved and the project of building new homes where the Anoakia mansion stands is now underway. Artifacts from the mansion have been given to the Arcadia Historical Society and the Arboretum.

McCoy Building, a two story building which was located at 233 N. First Avenue on west side of First Avenue at St. Joseph Sreet. Date on sign at top of building is 1910. Window and awning have FRANK McCOY GENERAL MERCHANDISE printed on them. Standing in front of store are two men and a woman. Building was demolished in September 1973.
A new 3-story office building at First Avenue and Huntington Drive should have its ground breaking ceremony before November 10, according to Warren Lortie of the development firm W.L.A. Arcon.
American Savings, which has been in temporary quarters at the southwest corner of Santa Anita Avenue and Wheeler Avenue in Arcadia since 1976, is seeking a new location. Site has been found at 30 South First Avenue but parking problem is proving to be a major stumbling block.

Santa Anita Park Race Track would like to build a helipad on the hillside on the north edge of its property and has sent a letter to its neighbors to the north asking if they have any objections.
Group of 30 students and one teacher standing by the "little red schoolhouse." It was on corner of California and Santa Anita Avenue and had been converted out of a vacant saloon. It was pressed into service when students outgrew new building that opened in 1907. We believe African-American boy in second row is Julian Fisher.
Arcadia Chamber of Commerce opened its 50-year-old time capsule which was buried when the iconic chamber building was built in 1965. It contained some film which deteriorated. A new time capsule was buried.
Former Mayor Charles Gilb and Ruth Gilb will donate $300,000 to build a new historical museum. The historical society will contribute an additional $100,000.

The Arcadia City Council, in its role of redevelopment agency, has approved a disposition and development agreement with American Savings for the property at the northwest corner of First Avenue and Huntington Drive.
Traces of history of the brick building on North First which was recently torn down. Built in the mid-1920's, it housed a restaurant, laundry, and various newspapers including the Tribune. Eventually the Post Office took over the entire building.
The architectural firm of Sevar and Associates and Dave Szany and Associates have relocated their offices in the restored and remodeled Southern Counties Gas Building. The building, constructed in 1926, is one of the original buildings on First Avenue. It was the home of the Gas Company for 33 years.
Less than a month before the Arcadia Historical Society was going to open, the Arcadia City Council has voted to move its building to a new site, at the southwest corner of the Arcadia Public Library.
