Arcadia Methodist Hospital has operated the Kathy Kredel Nursery School for the children of all hospital employees for 23 years. Their program is considered innovative.
City Council granted provisional approval of a permit for the operation of a preschool at Shaarei Tikvah Synagogue. A public hearing has been scheduled for September.
City Council granted Temple Shaarei Tikvah Synagogue the right to operate a preschool for children between the ages of 2 1/2 and 5. Public debate on the matter is reviewed.

Parent Alert has developed an educational drug program for 5th and 6th grade students. Titled "It's Your Decision," it teaches youngsters some of the important facts about drug abuse. The one-hour program took 2 years to develop. It is now ready for any teacher desirous of this service by calling Parent Alert at 446-3860.
Arcadia Council PTA is joining with Parent Alert in sponsoring two town meetings to encourage parents and other citizens to join a community-wide campaign aimed at fighting school age substance abuse. Meeting to be held at 7:45 P.M. on succeeding Wednesdays, Nov. 2 and 9 at First Avenue Junior High School auditorium.
Arcadia Unified School District fights for fair funding in Sacramento at the 2018 California State Parent Teacher Association (CA PTA) Legislation Conference.
Arcadia Unified School District continues decades-long advocacy for fair funding from the state. A dozen delegates from Arcadia went to Sacramento for the California State Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Legislation Conference, where they discussed key issues in public education, such as funding for mental health resources and arts programs, continued budget cuts and more. Arcadia High School student delegates Isaac Offstein, Joya Sarkar and Chloe Wong, met with State Senator Susan Rubio (D-49), State Senator Anthony Portantio (D-25) and Assemblyman Mike Fong (AD-49).

Arcadia High School is instituting two P. E. classes for handicapped youngsters this fall. A survey showed the need, so a program has been worked out which will be titled Adaptive P. E. and is designed to strengthen and condition those students.

If the School Board approves, 1976-77 will be the 9th year that Arcadia has participated in Title I funds under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. Primary usage for these federal funds is on those youngsters who fall below the 50th percentile in achievement tests.
A television from Macedonia videotapes a government class at Arcadia High School to show how local politics and citizenship participation work in this country. The finished program will air in Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Greece and Bulgaria.
A new group called Parent Alert is being formed by local parents concerned with drug abuse in Arcadia. A phone number (447-6758 AM to PM) is currently open for information queries. The group hopes to see a hotline established. They are also encouraging the school board to develop drug education programs.
