There is a speaker addressing the crowd of people in front and one can notice soldiers in uniform and dignitaries seated behind the speaker. Flags displayed on the second story. Ivy covers the walls. Four columns in the front. The address of City Hall was 3 N. First Avenue, as listed in the city directory.

Mr. Dewey Butler is seen sitting on his tractor. The Mauch family knew him very well and he would use his tractor to turn the soil on their ranch as well as his own. This photo was taken at Mauch ranch at Palm Avenue and Holly Avenue. In a 1997 conversation between Carol Libby of the Arcadia Historical Society and Lynette Dunn, daughter of Dewey Butler, Mrs. Dunn stated that this photo is not of her father. She said it was possibly her uncle.

Left to right, in boat - Mr. Mathews, Mrs. F.D. Black, Mr. Stocker ("Lucky's son-in-law), Mrs. H.C. Wyatt, in white; Mrs. Stocker (Lucky's daughter) and Mrs. Scott. Street closest to camera is First Avenue, running north/south, and we see its intersection with Wheeler Avenue in lower left portion of photo. Almost vacant lot on northwest corner of Wheeler Avenue and First Avenue is where Sawmill Restaurant was built in about 1977 (Sawmill Restaurant closed in early 1990's). Foundation work on South side of Wheeler Avenue at corner of First Avenue is for medical building which became 65 N. First Avenue. (Former site of Arcadia Public Library until 1961.) Post Office is largest building in center of the block on north side of Wheeler Avenue. Large white area is parking area for Santa Anita Park Race Track.

Mr. Spickler was committee chairman for Arcadia Tournament of Roses Association benefit party held at Anoakia Saturday, January 31, 1976. This photograph was published in the Arcadia Tribune, August 20, 1956 with the caption: Here comes mama--By all indications from this picture, it looks as if the children weren't the only ones who were having a good time at the recent Arcadia Recreation Department city-wide track meet. The Tribune camera caught Mrs. Mary Turner as she broke the tape in the "feature" race of the afternoon. Running a close second in the event is Mrs. John Panatier followed across the finish line by Mrs. Lucas.
