Aerial view north. Main tree-lined street is Santa Anita Avenue. Most of the orange grove in center of photo was owned by Jaspar Teague family. They had built a circular art gallery on their property at 1380 South Santa Anita Avenue. The large buildings north of Teague's and to the west of Santa Anita Avenue are chicken houses. Duarte Road is the east/west street across photo near top of photo.
Aerial view west toward Santa Anita Ave. from above First Avenue, site of new grammar school. Long driveway heads to Jaspar N. Teague home in center of 10 acre orange grove. (Address in City Directory for this name is 1380 S. Santa Anita.) House to left and south was that of Charles W. Stewart in another 10 acre plot. Both ranches are now occupied by First Avenue Junior High School.
Realtor Robert L. Walker pictured in front of his office at 100 N. First Ave. (Same house built by Walker's wife's grandfather, Dr. Fletcher Sanborn.) Pictured with him are three of his children; on left in striped shirt is Bryan Lee Walker. Standing is Judy, seated in front is Scott Walker.
James N. Walker, on left and Robert L. Walker on right, owners of Walker's Bar-B-Q, are pictured in front of their business at 63 W. Huntington Drive. Their menu is painted on the building.
Aerial view toward NE. Plane is over property of Charles W. Stewart (10 acres), and Jaspar Teague (10 acres), at 1320 S. Santa Anita Avenue, which is directly under the plane. Next street east is First Avenue, then Second Avenue, the Fourth Avenue. Reservoir is at corner of Valnett Avenue and Second Avenue and was owned by Walnut Grove Mutual Water Company (Valnett Avenue was first through street south of Duarte Road at this time and became Camino Real).
Three young people standing at SW corner of Huntington Drive and Santa Anita Avenue just inside fence of Ross Field Balloon School. L-R: Bruno Bucher, his sister Cacilie Bucher Mauch and unidentified man. Note Community Presbyterian Church, then on NE corner of this intersection.
View of NE corner of First Avenue and Wheeler Street when property at 100 N. First Ave. was occupied by Robert L. Walker, Real Estate & Krutzsch and Walker, Insurance. Sign reads: Choice north location, 7 rm. 2 bdrm. panled (sic) den, stores, transp., Highland Oak School, $13250; $3500 down.

Rowing on the lake in a boat named CLARA are Clara Baldwin Stocker (second from right), Lucky Baldwin's elder daughter; Clara's fourth husband, Harold Stocker (rowing); and several friends. A copy of this photo appears in the March 2, 1909 Los Angeles Daily Times pt.II p.8 with the following identification: FAMILY GROUP ON THE LAKE AT SANTA ANITA. Left to right, in boat - Mr. Mathews, Mrs. F.D. Black, Mr. Stocker ("Lucky's son-in-law), Mrs. H.C. Wyatt, in white; Mrs. Stocker (Lucky's daughter) and Mrs. Scott. There are seven people seated in the boat, but only six names are identified in the newspaper article. Article is in Arcadia History file Baldwin, Elias J. "Lucky", number 58 ("His greatest race run, 'Lucky' loses.)
View from Huntington Drive north, across parking area toward Walker's Bar BQ. The address was 63 W. Huntington, part of area subsequently occupied by the Ford Motor Agency. Brothers James N. and Robert L. Walker built building and ran enterprise from 1931-1936. It was a favorite hang out for M.A.D. students.
Seated in large military truck are, L-R: Bruno Bucher, Cacelie Bucher Mauch, and Master Sgt. William Bucher, step father of the two young people. Truck is parked just inside the fence of Ross Field Balloon School, and at SW corner of Huntington Drive and Santa Anita.
