About 12 girls in white are seen walking across the lawn at front of First Avenue School (Arcadia Grammar School at this time, 1935). They have garlands of flowers over their shoulders to commemorate their graduation from 8th grade. Photo is also interesting because construction scaffolding is across front of school.

Arcadia's first school building built expressly for a school; a two room building. There are about fifty youngsters standing on stairs leading to front door. Sign over door reads Arcadia. It was on site of present First Avenue School and the address was 1170 S. First Avenue.

Car #331 of Pacific Electric pictured very close-up. It is close enough to notice the advertising cards inside car above seats. Car appears to be very early one. This photo belongs to the Los Angeles County Arboretum. It is shown here for research only.
Charles Francis Earl is seen standing next to a tractor, holding his young son, William Earl. Behind the Earl's is the vacant lot Mr. Earl purchased in the mid 1930s when it was a hayfield. The vacant lot as seen in this photo is shortly before construction began on their home in late 1951 and early 1952. When constructed, the address was 1050 Paloma Drive. See also Photo #1634.
Charles Shugert, proprietor of Shugert's House of Toys is pointing out boundaries of First parking district to other merchants who would profit from it. A man is standing at the left head of the table, arm raised with a knife in his hand. This man is possibly Harold Stocker. Clara's butler is seen to the right of the floral centerpiece. Handwritten note along bottom of the photo reads "Oaks Barbecue May 14 1915." The "Oaks" was the name for Clara's home.

There are two other unidentified people at the rear of the vehicle and one unidentified woman seated on the running board in the front right corner of the photo. Handwriting on the bottom of the photo reads, "August 11th 1914."
