Damage to the Arcadia Public Library as a result of the Whittier Narrows earthquake. The earthquake measured 5.9 on the richter scale. This photo was taken in Technical Services, which had extensive water damage from a broken water pipe.

Nine visitors to the Arboretum were injured when a large eucalyptus branch fell on them. They were taken to Arcadia Methodist Hospital where all but two were treated and released. The more seriously injured had a broken right arm and spinal damage.

Sierra Madre mail carriers will be consolidated into the Arcadia branch, effective October 26. The aim is to cut costs. The post office in Sierra Madre is not shutting down, but mail carrier drivers will instead report to the Arcadia post office at 41 Wheeler Avenue.

Mrs. Anita Baldwin McClaughry's entry in the 1915 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, "Dove of Peace," was 26 feet long with a wing span of 11 feet. The dove was covered with roses, lilies-of-the-valley, maiden hair fern and stevia serulata. It held an olive branch in its bill. It was the most costly float entered in the parade.
