Organizers of the 626 Night Market, held at Santa Anita Park, hope that a 6-foot-tall plexi glass cup of boba milk tea, holding about 125 4-inch tapioca balls, immersed in some 320 gallons of black tea and milk, will earn them a spot in the Guinness World Records.
Arcadia Apaches roller hockey team won the San Gabriel Valley Roller Hockey League Championships by defeating Glendora 3-1. The Apaches, who use the name and logo of Arcadia High School, do not have an official affiliation with the school, but the team consists of high school age Arcadia residents, the majority of whom go to Arcadia High School.
Eight Arcadia High School students stood in front of the city police station waving signs at motorists to protest Arcadia's teen curfew after one of them was stopped for roller skating on the street at night. The curfew ordinance has been in effect for more than 20 years and prohibits people under the age of 18 from loitering on streets and in public places between 10 PM and sunrise.

Arcadia resident Bob Wieland, 62, lost both legs in the Vietnam War, but that didn't stop him from majoring in physical education at California State University Los Angeles. He has walked on his hands and biked across the United States, competed in 6 marathons, completed a triathlon, and set world weight-lifting records. He will be inducted into the California Powerlifting Hall of Fame today.

A new Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market has opened in Arcadia. It is owned by Tesco, a British food giant. Tesco's labor practices have come under fire for relying on part-time workers, which may limit the ability of workers to earn a living wage.

Santa Anita meet opens: no fans but record betting. Santa Anita park began its 84th winter-spring meet yesterday with no audience, but had a record-breaking opening day in betting handle, as $23,003,159 was wagered on the 11-race card. The old record of $20,491,016 was set in 2018. First-year General Manager Nate Newby hopes fans will be allowed back soon. Until such time only essential personnel and horses' owners are allowed to attend races.
Arcadia Assisteens Auxiliary accepting applications February 1-28. It is a co-ed auxiliary that provides community service opportunities for high school students. Assisteens staff the Book Buddies Program, in partnership with Arcadia Public Library, and volunteer at the Assistance League of Arcadia's Bargain Box Thrift Shop. If a tentative contract proposal is signed by the city of Arcadia, Group W Cable should provide cable TV services throughout the city within a year. With Falcon Cable planning to set up a system south of the Foothill Freeway, this would mean two cable services could be operating south of the freeway.
Arcadia's CHOICESS, a non-profit organization that assists the developmentally disabled, had ten volunteers who participated in the Los Angeles Marathon and raised money for the group.
Arcadia resident John Chin has run 21 consecutive Los Angeles Marathons, making him part of an elite group of "Legacy Runners," those who have run in every LA Marathon since its inception in 1986.
