Arcadia High School graduate and former professional football player turned sculptor David Chapple will design a bronze peacock to be placed in the fountain at Peacock Corner in Arcadia Park. The sculpture will cost $30,000.
An 8-foot tall bronze tribute to Arcadia's official bird, the peacock, will be unveiled August 5, as part of the city's centennial celebration. The statue will be located in the fountain at Peacock Corner, in the front of Arcadia County Park, at the southwest corner of Huntington Drive and Santa Anita Avenue. The sculptor of the peacock is Dave Chapple and the sculpture cost $30,000.
The City will pay $25,000 of city money toward putting a 10-foot tall bronze peacock at Peacock Corner, in front of Arcadia County Park, on the corner of Huntington Drive and Santa Anita Avenue. The sculpture will emerge from the center of the fountain at the corner. The actual cost of the sculpture and base is $36,500. The fountain was originally donated by Rotary Club 35 years ago.
Community donations are being sought to help defray the cost of a bronze statue that will be installed in front of the new Arcadia Police Station. David Chapple, an Irvine sculptor and painter who graduated from Arcadia High School in 1965, will create the $50,000 art work for the city.
Orange County artist Dave Chapple will create a bronze statue of two uniformed officers that will be installed at the entrance to the new $16 million police station. The cost of the sculpture will be about $50,000.
Plans are underway for "Peacock Corner" at the fountain and entrance at Arcadia County Park at Santa Anita Avenue and Huntington Drive. The bronze peacock will be 8 feet tall.
Arcadia County Park fountain rededicated. The fountain in the park, which is a memorial to wartime casualties, was rededicated to honor those who perished in last year's September 11th terrorist attack. The fountain is being redone and will have a bronze peacock on the top of the fountain. The renovated landmark will be called Peacock Corner.
Arcadia celebrated 100 years of cityhood with a cameo appearance by Elias Jackson "Lucky" Baldwin, portrayed by John Reuter. Activities included a scavenger hunt, author book signing for Visions of Arcadia, and the unveiling of the bronze peacock topping the fountain. The peacock was sculpted by Dave Chapple.

The city unveiled a bronze plaque of a horse and rider, commemorating Arcadia's participation in the 1984 Olympics equestrian events. The plaque and a bas relief sculpture of a horse and rider jumping over a hurdle will be placed at the entryway of the Arcadia City Council Chambers.
The fountain at Peacock Corner (southwest corner Santa Anita Avenue and Huntington Drive) is taking on a new look. Student volunteers are placing small mosaic tiles on the facade of the fountain. Local interior designer Shirley Farris volunteered to coordinate the project.
A small but vocal group of peacock supporters on Tuesday presented the City Council with a petition with more than 340 signatures discouraging trapping of peacocks.
