After narrowly rejecting a Target Department Store as a suitable use for a property on Huntington Drive Tuesday night, the Arcadia City Council will have to await another proposal if it still plans to redevelop the property. The vote was 2-2 with and abstention. the measure needed 3 votes to win.

Although owners of horse-size lots in Southeast Arcadia recently lost a battle before the City Council to extend a moratorium on subdivisions in the area, one leader of the group says they will continue their fight on 2 fronts: a lawsuit against the city and the formation of a new citizen's group to put initiative measures on the city ballot to limit development of Arcadia.

An application for state funds to make $8.5 million worth of repairs in 6 Arcadia schools is moving ahead. Funds for the repairs, from the Leroy F. Greene State School Building Lease-Purchase Program, a bond measure, have been exhausted. However, another bond issue, coming up in the June 1990 election, is expected to pass and provide money to continue the program.

The Arcadia Beautiful Commission intends to recommend that Holly Avenue School be submitted for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. The city's oldest school building, Holly Avenue, built in 1927, is an example of the Spanish Colonial Revival Style.
