The book trucks covered the pipe, which ran all the way out the temporary front doors into what used to be the Children's Room patio. The area behind the book trucks was the sorting area. This view is of the temporary adult reading area, looking toward the temporary circulation desk and temporary front entrance. In the center of the photo, a drainage pipe is surrounded by chairs and booktrucks. This pipe was installed to help drain rain from the roof. The carpet in this area was removed because of extensive water damage. Globe lights.

Bob Merget, on left, and helper Torval Yates pictured in front of Merget's Malt Shop located at 111 E. Huntington Drive, where Bank of America was located until its move to N. Santa Anita. It was a tradition on May Day that free cones were given out to all youngsters, according to information given by former residents.
