Parachute pictured coming down on Balloon School field. San Gabriel Mountains and Chantry Flats Road can be seen in background. Parachutes were used as emergency way to evacuate balloon in case of enemy fire, lightning, etc., according to H.F.Paden.

Although the back of this photograph is stamped with its processing date of August 1997, "Summer Concert 1996" was handwritten on the envelope it came in from Arcadia Recreation Department.
"Cradle of Freedom," Arcadia's float entry in the 1964 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade paid tribute to Sister City Tripolis, Greece. It features columns, ruins of Grecian temple statues and Nike of Samothrace. Four Grecian maidens in native costume ride on the float. A framed copy of this removed from wall outside Admin. office and currently stored in map case in basement, as of February 2017.

Santa Anita Avenue from about the late 1940s until June 1981. Santa Anita School was built on the site of the second school building built by the City, a two-room red brick building, built in 1913 to house grades 1 and 2. In 1982, Arcadia Christian School moved into this location.
