Teen brothers, ages 15 and 16, beaten to death in their home on 400 block of Fairview Avenue, just west of Holly Avenue. The suspect is their uncle by marriage, who is believed to have fled to China. The FBI was working with Chinese authorities. The victims appeared to have suffered "blunt force trauma." The suspect was already being sought in an attack on his wife. His wife filed a restraining order against him and began divorce proceedings.

Li Zhu, a 68-year-old Arcadia man suspected in the death of his daughter-in-law, Xiaolin Li, was found dead in his jail cell at Twin Towers Correctional Facility at 450 Bauchett Street in Los Angeles. Deputies found him hanging in his cell, in an apparent suicide.

The coroner's spokesperson Craig Harvey, says an autopsy has confirmed that Li Zhu died of asphyxia, and the death was ruled a suicide. Li Zhu was a 68-year-old Arcadia man found hanging in his jail cell on January 8. He was arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing his daughter-in-law, Xiaolin Li, in the 900 block of Arcadia Avenue.

He allegedly drove onto a closed freeway in Baldwin Park while drunk and killed a 21-year-old road worker named Connor McDermott Penhall. Penhall is son of hall of fame motorcycle racer and actor Bruce Penhall.

The arrested suspect was identified as the victim's father-in-law Li Zhu, a 68-year-old resident of Arcadia. The motive appears to be related to an on-going dispute within the family. Authorities identify dead woman found slain at her home in Arcadia as 76-year-old Chyong Jen Tsai. Detectives are still looking for whoever killed the Arcadia grandmother and stole a white Lexus RX300 from the home in the 300 block of East Forest Avenue. Three weeks before the killing, her home had been burglarized. Detectives are not ruling out this connection to the homicide.

Arcadia police investigators have completed an inquiry into the April 10 crash, in the 600 block of West Duarte Road, that killed 16-year-old Arcadia High School student Alice Zhang. Detective Michael Hale said the driver was negligent in driving a car with a dirty windshield that blinded him as he drove toward a setting sun. Arcadia officials are recommending the driver of the 1997 Lexus sedan that struck Alice Zhang and her friend who survived, be charged with vehicular manslaughter, but the District Attorney's office will review the case and decide on whether to prosecute the driver and on what grounds.

A passenger (name withheld pending notification to next of kin) in a stolen vehicle was killed and another hurt yesterday following a pursuit by Arcadia police. Richard John Villareal, 28, of Arcadia, and his male passenger led Arcadia police on a chase that ended about 11:40 AM on Lower Azusa Road and Arden Drive in Temple City when the stolen car crashed into two other vehicles.
