A tile tapestry was unveiled on the northwest wall of the Arcadia Public Library on Friday, April 8, 2005. More than 200 individual tiles were painted by the public to depict life in Arcadia. A photo is included.

This season's rainfall recorded in downtown Los Angeles is 34.51 inches as of 5 PM Friday, March 4, 2005. It is just shy of the second rainiest season's rainfall of 34.84 inches from 1889-1890. This season will probably surpass the number two spot. A photo shows students walking home in rain in Arcadia.
Arcadia Performing Arts Foundation Executive Director Sue Cook will speak on March 5 at the next Arcadia Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Forum at the Chamber's conference room.
At 1:53 PM on April 6, 2004, Arcadia Police Department officers descended on the Arcadia Public Library and arrested two men. One of the two men was seen passing a loaded gun to the other. Librarian Debbie Marks' coments on the incident are included. The men were Trevor Kuk, 21, of Arcadia and Enrique Ayala, 24, of Duarte.
Arcadia Public Library will have a new conference room constructed and will remodel the existing room into offices and a work area. An office will be created for the Friends of the Library. This is the first phase and the contract was awarded to K & S Design for $106,500. Phase 2 of the project, to be completed at a later date, will include a teen center and an enlarged international language area.

Arcadia Public Library opens "Teen Center," with a new collection dedicated especially to teenagers. It is located in the northeast corner of the adult reading room.
Santa Anita Park's synthetic track surface will be removed and a new $5 million plus dirt surface, closely resembling the ones at Churchill Downs, Gulfstream Park and the Oklahoma training track at Saratoga, will be installed. Ted Malloy is the racing surface consultant. He hopes to have the new track in by December 6.
Arcadia City Council hears report on Phase Two of the Arcadia Public Library Strategic Plan. It outlines the need for additional funding to the Strategic Plan to accommodate for remodeling and additional office space and staff.
The tile mosaic "Blind Justice" created by artist Jay Rivkin in 1958 on the entrance to the police station will be demolished this month as a result of the opening of the new police station. The mosaic could not be saved.
"Wild About Reading" is the theme for the summer program to be sponsored by the Jerry Broadwell Children's Room of Arcadia Public Library. Registration begins June 6 through July 18.
Developer Rick Caruso and officials of Santa Anita Park met to discuss reviving The Shops at Santa Anita, a proposed upscale retail mall project. MI Developments (MID) had cancelled a 2005 contract with Caruso Affiliated to build the mall after bankruptcy restructuring at Santa Anita Park. Both parties hope to move forward with the mall.
Macy's will relaunch at more than 800 sites nationwide, after parent company Federated Department Stores acquired May Department Stores in August 2005. The Robinsons-May in Arcadia became property of the Westfield Group and plans for the site have not been announced.
