People looking at wreckage of two autos lying in Santa Anita Wash at Huntington Drive. A Franklin and a Buick went off the narrow wood span on December 14, 1907 or 1909? Fire had burned the bridge in August and so it had no guard rails. See Arcadia VF-Streets Item #18 for description of accident.

View of Herbert's Cafe from center of Alice Street right at intersection with Santa Anita. (Main fire house for Arcadia is presently located there.) There is a wagon wheel mounted near front. It was owned by Herbert and Catherine Schmidt from 1939-1957. See Arcadia VF-Restaurants, bars, etc. for further information regarding special days and how they were celebrated here.

Stone house at 58 W. Grandview. Small girl in foreground possibly Dextra Baldwin. Anita Baldwin purchased 22 acres of her father's land for $10.00 on March 8, 1892. (see Arcadia VF-Baldwin, Anita) Anita's father built stone cottage in May 1902 on lot 7 and part of lots 8&9 in block 98 of Santa Anita Tract. (This information came from Mrs. Sharlene Cartier, who owned the house in 1973.)

In lower right corner can be seen Santa Anita Ave lined with Eucalyptus. On lower left, one can see present Campus Drive. Across top third of photo, one can see Huntington Drive. Note how small the trees are that line the street.
Lowry McCaslin, on right, stands before fireplace in dining room at Anoakia, which Mr. McCaslin has owned since the mid 1940's. Other people are Mr. and Mrs. Dale Spickler, as identified in Arcadia Tribune article on January 22, 1976. Mr. Spickler was committee chairman for Arcadia Tournament of Roses Association benefit party held at Anoakia Saturday, January 31, 1976. See Arcadia VF-Anoakia Item #17 for article and similar photo. Baldwin family crest is handsomely carved above fireplace.
Three prints of Arcadia's city hall, two of which are taken from slightly different angles but apparently on the same day. There are two copies of one of the photos. Originally built in 1918, it was on the NW corner of Huntington Drive and First Avenue. A photo from a similar angle in 1924 shows ivy growing all the way to the roof. In these photos, the ivy is half way up the outer wall. In one of the prints, a car is seen just entering the photo from the right.
