First sanctuary for Arcadia Presbyterian Church. Served as a Sunday School in 1911, and as first Presbyterian Church of Arcadia beginning May 22, 1914. Located at 206 N. First Avenue.
Tamara Kato owned the Arcadia franchise of Comfort Keepers, an in-home care service. She celebrated her business' one year anniversary this week. She employed about 30 caregivers that visit and live in clients' homes to help clients enjoy some company and maintain their independence.
Isabelle Stires is retiring after 19 years in the Arcadia Unified School District. This past year Mrs. Stires has been teaching second grade at Camino Grove School. Before that she taught second and third graded at Bonita Park School. She and her husband plan to travel.

Mrs. Raymond A. Dorn, wife of Pasadena real estate man, who developed much of the property north of Foothill Boulevard in Arcadia, was killed and her husband injured in an automobile accident at Rosemead Boulevard and Callita Street.
Arcadia 16-year-old Roger A. Lewis, who was struck by a car while bicycling, has died. The accident occurred over the weekend at Santa Anita Avenue and Duarte Road. The driver who struck Lewis was driving a 2008 Chrysler Sebring. Lewis was a former student at Arcadia High School.
Jim Helms chosen President of the Association of San Gabriel Valley Cities. Cities which have confirmed membership are: Alhambra, Arcadia, Covina, El Monte, Irwindale, La Puente, Monrovia, Monterey Park, Pasadena, San Marino, South Pasadena, Temple City, and Walnut.
Arcadia ice skater Mirai Nagasu is going to the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Friends and family send her off with a party at Arcadia Presbyterian Church. She will skate in the singles competition starting February 23, 2010.
Rosalie Dunham, who moved to Arcadia 10 year ago, is the Senior Citizen of the Year. After the death of her husband 8 years ago, she and her friend Marilyn Morrison began Starting Over, a group for people who have suffered a loss. She also started a follow-up group called Branching Out.
Mrs. Irene Wiley was freed on the charge that she was wilfully cruel to her 13-year-old daughter Susan Wiley, aka "Genie." The article was written by Lucie Lowery. A 13-year-old girl named Susan Wiley was reportedly a prisoner in her home for all her life until a social worker discovered the abuse. Susan's parents Clark Wiley and Irene Wiley were arrested. The family home is at 6722 Golden West Avenue, in a county area of Arcadia. Susan Wiley was living in an environment of total isolation and deprivation and was malnourished. She cannot talk, is deformed, barely able to walk and is not toilet trained. She has been placed in the care of Children's Hospital. The child has come to be known by the alias "Genie." Reuben Vizcarra was among just 18 people nationwide to receive a bronze medal from the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission. Vizcarra rushed to the aid of a woman as she was being stabbed by her estranged husband.

Handwriting on the bottom of the photo reads, "August 11th 1914."
