A sponge toss, sack race, pumpkin-carving contest and the Mayor's Spelling Bee will all return for the second annual Lucky Baldwin Day Community Picnic on October 27 at the Arcadia County Park.
The first Lucky Baldwin Day community picnic takes place October 28, 11:30-3:30 at Arcadia County Park. Activities will include pumpkin carving, three-legged race, water balloon toss, spelling bee, magic show, live music, penny carnival, relay races, inflatable rides, and more.
Finalists have been determined in the 2001 City of Arcadia Mayor's Spelling Bee. Competition will be held at the Lucky Baldwin Day Community Picnic on October 28.
In keeping with the theme of "The Year of Community and Communication," the City of Arcadia will host the first Lucky Baldwin Day Community Picnic on Sunday, October 28, 2001, at Arcadia County Park.

Arcadia park goes to the dogs. The 46th annual Bassett Hound Picnic was held at the Arcadia County Park. Picnic featured contests for the saddest face, longest ears, most spots, humorous costume, and crazy hat.
About 44 residents of Newcastle, Australia will be here for several days - going to the Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl Game. One of their girls will ride on Arcadia's Rose Parade float. Many civic affairs are planned.

Miss Arcadia of 1963 is Vikki Lynn Davis. She will be on the Arcadia float in the Rose Parade on January 1, 1963. The Junior Chamber of Commerce conducted the contest. Two princesses were selected: Lauren Dahl and Diana Lynne Donnelly.
"King of Sports," Arcadia's float entry in the 1936 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, featured three horses at the starting gate with children riding them.

"Stairway to the Stars," Arcadia's float entry in the 1972 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, featured a large piano keyboard. Riding on the float is the Arcadia Rose Court. A framed copy of this removed from wall outside Admin. office and currently stored in map case in basement, as of February 2017.
