View from Campus Drive looking toward front entry of Arcadia Unified School District offices at 234 Campus Drive. The offices here closed on April 4, 2014 and this building was demolished on July 7, 2014. The school district offices moved to a new location at 150 S. 3rd Avenue on April 4, 2014 and then opened to the public on April 14, 2014.
View east of the front of Santa Anita School, probably shortly after its opening, as shrubbery is small. This school was located at 1900 S. Santa Anita Avenue from about the late 1940s until June 1981. Santa Anita School was built on the site of the second school building built by the City, a two-room red brick building, built in 1913 to house grades 1 and 2. In 1982, Arcadia Christian School moved into this location.
View toward mountains and Sierra Madre School. Approximately 21 youngsters are seen on the grounds. Fourth person from left appears to be the teacher. It is noted in the ANNALS OF SIERRA MADRE, that Anita Baldwin and other Arcadia youngsters attended this school before Arcadia had a school of its own.

Maneuvering officer (extreme right) leading about 23 men in readying balloon to take on observers and go aloft. Identification was given by H.F. Paden, August 1978. Mr. Paden was an officer at the Balloon School. Field is totally flat.

Four wheel drive truck with Cunningham winch used to get balloon aloft and back down and to keep them anchored. One truck for each balloon and had 1500 meters of heavy cable. Tires of truck were solid rubber. Note: ground line coming from truck near winch. This was to take care of static electricity generated along cable due to telephone in balloon. ID #1960-1965 are print sheets of swimming pool construction at Arcadia High School. Two images on each print sheet #1960-1964. Top image shows the shallow and deep ends under construction. Bottom shows woman at the edge of the swimming pool pretending to "dip her left foot in."
Small Spanish-style home. Address, at the time of the photo (1927) was 2747 Olive Street in Temple City. Numbers on Olive Street were changed and same house in 1980 has street number of 10159. This was girlhood home of Vera Van Houten and her family. The children went all the way through Arcadia schools as this home was in Arcadia School District.
