Within the next few months several new developments will be cropping up along Huntington Drive: construction of a 7-story office building at 1st Avenue, erection of the Southland National Bank at 5th Avenue, and construction of a Target Department Store at 3rd Avenue. There are also plans to construct a new police station, city hall, senior citizens center and auditorium at a total estimated cost of $19 million.

The architectural firm of Sevar and Associates and Dave Szany and Associates have relocated their offices in the restored and remodeled Southern Counties Gas Building. The building, constructed in 1926, is one of the original buildings on First Avenue. It was the home of the Gas Company for 33 years.

An application for state funds to make $8.5 million worth of repairs in 6 Arcadia schools is moving ahead. Funds for the repairs, from the Leroy F. Greene State School Building Lease-Purchase Program, a bond measure, have been exhausted. However, another bond issue, coming up in the June 1990 election, is expected to pass and provide money to continue the program.
