Santa Anita School Miss Fulvio's third grade classroom photo by Thompson Photo Service, Los Angeles (from the envelope which has been discarded). The school was located at 1900 South Santa Anita Avenue from about 1950 until June, 1981. In 1982, Arcadia Christian School moved in to this location.

Lightly poised upon a single branch of acacia, a yellow butterfly emerging from its chrysalis heralded the 1915 Pasadena Tournament of Roses float for the City of Arcadia. The entry was designed by Mrs. Anita Baldwin McClaughry. Formed of yellow roses, marigolds and pom pom chrysanthemums, the butterfly is emerging from a chrysalis of gray-green foliage nine feet in length. This was the first official City of Arcadia entry in the Rose Parade.

"Arcadia Salutes Australia's Waratah's Festival," Arcadia's float entry in the 1970 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, features an abstract free-form reminiscent of an English coach. At the forefront is a royal blue peacock. To the rear are kangaroos, koala bears and lyre birds. A framed copy of this removed from wall outside Admin. office and currently stored in map case in basement, as of February 2017.

Huntington Drive can be seen in center of photo with young trees planted on north side of it. Santa Anita Race Track is one furthest from camera. The next small track is a training track belonging to Santa Anita. There is a VERY small round track across the street from the training track, which was part of a private horse stables. The incompleted oval was part of work done in 1933 by Joe Smoot and Anita Baldwin in their effort to develop the Jockey Club Track. This photo belongs to the Huntington Library. About 12 girls in white are seen walking across the lawn at front of First Avenue School (Arcadia Grammar School at this time, 1935). They have garlands of flowers over their shoulders to commemorate their graduation from 8th grade. Photo is also interesting because construction scaffolding is across front of school.
