Superintendent Ed Ryan submitted his resignation to the Board of Education. He has been named director of the Institute for Research in Educational Administration in the School of Education at USC.
Elbert E. Souders, associate superintendent of schools, has been appointed interim superintendent by the Board of Education. In accepting the two-year appointment, Souders will be replacing Edward V. Ryan who resigned to accept a position at USC.

The Arcadia Board of Education has begun the process of finding a new superintendent of Arcadia schools. The Board has hired Dr. Elaine Boyce of School Services of California, Inc. to coordinate recruitment and selection process.

Dr. Stephen A. Goldstone was hired as the new superintendent for the Arcadia School District at a special meeting of the Arcadia Board of Education. Goldstone, currently employed as the superintendent of the Albany Unified School District near San Francisco, will begin his duties in Arcadia July 1, 1985.
Terrance M. Towner, former Pasadena resident and school superintendent in Los Gatos, will be next superintendent for the Arcadia Unified School District. The Arcadia Board of Education selected Towner after a 4-month search. He replaces Stephen Goldstone, who left in September to become superintendent with the Chino Unified School District. Mr. Towner will earn $91,000 per year.
Dr. Stephen Goldstone, Arcadia Unified School District Superintendent, is leaving his post here for a similar position in Chino. He says it is an advancement for him since Chino has about 23,000 students, compared to Arcadia's 7500.
Russell J. Ribb, former superintendent for the Hacienda-La Puente Unified School District, has been named to serve as Arcadia's interim school superintendent. Elaine Boyce of the School Service of California, a Sacramento-based consulting firm, has been hired to recruit a new superintendent.
Arcadian Gary A. Lorden, professor of mathematics at the California Institute of Technology and a Caltech faculty member for 21 years, has been appointed the Institute's Vice President for Student Affairs.
Dr. Ed Ryan has been chosen President of the Arcadia Tournament of Roses Association for 1975. The parade theme is Heritage of America. Arcadia's entry title has not yet been chosen.
