(Date is disputed to be after 1955, not 1950, per researcher race track historian Leonard Wynne, who says the inner track part, known as the "Turf Course" was put in during 1955. The inner track part is not where the horses are seen running.)

Gene Glasco, City Clerk 2012-2024. Retired in 2024. This photo c. 2020. Gene Glasco is a native Californian and long time resident of Arcadia. Gene attended Highland Oaks Elementary school, First Avenue Junior High School, and is a graduate of Arcadia High School where he lettered in Football and played second chair trombone in the award-winning AHS Marching Band. Gene is Arcadia’s first elected City Clerk that is a graduate of Arcadia High School. Gene served six years in the United States Navy. He spent fourteen months in Vietnam as a Radioman in support of US Navy riverboat activities in the Mekong Delta and is a service-connected disabled Veteran. Gene is an Honor Role graduate of Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo. He attended San Jose State University where he majored in Public Relations with a minor in Asian American History. After thirty years in the foodservice industry, Gene retired from Glasco and Associates, Inc. He also has practiced real estate in Arcadia.

Shoemaker Al Yarter standing out in front of shops he built on North First Ave. The family lived in the house between the two shops. Mr. Yarter's grandson, Pat Carlin, told us in 1980 that Mr. Yarter bought the land from Anita Baldwin for a stated price. Later, he was told by an agent, that because the lot was within the lighting district, he would need to pay an additional amount. When Mr. Yarter spoke directly to Anita Baldwin about this, she said it had been her mistake and he would pay only what had been agreed upon. View east of the front of Santa Anita School, probably shortly after its opening, as shrubbery is small. This school was located at 1900 S. Santa Anita Avenue from about the late 1940s until June 1981. Santa Anita School was built on the site of the second school building built by the City, a two-room red brick building, built in 1913 to house grades 1 and 2. In 1982, Arcadia Christian School moved into this location.
