Unidentified sheepherder who would bring his flock to the fields across from Mauch ranch at Holly Avenue and Palm Avenue. He would bring the sheep after the field crop had been harvested to let them graze on stubble. Dog is also visible next to sheepherder.
"100 Years of Good Health, Happiness, and Prosperity," Arcadia's float entry in the 2003 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade. Front view showing the "Queen's Trophy" award banner won for most effective use and display of roses in concept, design and presentation.
Brown shingled house with granite stone chimney and unique floor to ceiling windows by front entry. Brick terrace forms entry. Word persists from people in the area, that house was built by a former Cabinet Officer. A title search was done on the house for us in 1975: the one name on list of owners that is a possibility is MELLON. (In article written by Claire Charles and numbered #4 in Arcadia-Peacocks, on p.23, top of page, she mentions Annie Mellon as living in this house.) Address if 330 E. Duarte Rd. Built c. 1913.

A number of horses are seen in their stalls. Most are looking toward the camera. There are hanging lights over the horses. Probably taken at Santa Anita Park during the 1984 Olympics.
Small Spanish-style home. Address, at the time of the photo (1927) was 2747 Olive Street in Temple City. Numbers on Olive Street were changed and same house in 1980 has street number of 10159. This was girlhood home of Vera Van Houten and her family. The children went all the way through Arcadia schools as this home was in Arcadia School District.

The library does not have a print of this negative. The negative is of two passes to Santa Anita Park. One is marked "LADY" and is dated 1907-1908. A large number 39 appears in the middle. The second pass is round. The word "COMPLIMENTARY" appears at the top. It is dated 1907-8, has an unidentified signature near the center. The words Santa Anita Park and Los Angeles Racing Association also appear on the pass.

Three staff members stand on right, identified by arm bands. Automobiles are lined up behind. Housing units are also shown. The word INDUCTION is written across bottom of photo.

Baldwin and in 1928 Directory, it is 710 W. Duarte. Man in cap standing by pump apparently is owner, Bruce Wetmore.
Eight civic minded men armed with shovels have apparently just installed sign reading: Give the Boys a Lift. This would have been during World War II when thousands of Army personnel were stationed in Arcadia and the sign designed to encourage residents to give the soldiers rides into Pasadena or other locations.
View west on Duarte Road from near intersection with Santa Anita. Street is lined on both sides with pepper trees. Note mailbox on left bears the number 20 W. Duarte Road - the current address of Arcadia Public Library. Groups of students are walking on south side of street to newly opened Arcadia High School which is on the right.
