Anthony and William were beaten to death by a bolt cutter in their Arcadia home in the 400 block of Fairview Avenue in Arcadia. Nine people face federal charges for allegedly smuggling blue jeans from China by way of a Foreign Trade Zone in Industry. The alleged smugglers avoided import duties and taxes that would have amounted to between $2 million and $2 million in tax revenues for the government since 2009, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Two of the alleged are Taylor "David" Wong, 49, of Arcadia and Tsu "Nick" Wei Lin, 41, of Arcadia. The others are Joel Elder of Long Beach, Jianying "Jonathan" Huang, a Chinese national, Xiaoqiong "Joan" Hou of Diamond Bar, Rebecca Ho of Alhambra, Yuling Wang of Walnut, Keen "Alven" Wai Choo of Rowland Heights and Wei "Julia" Lai, the key figure in the indictment.

Monrovia man Yi Chen gets 4 years in prison for fraud in a student visa scheme to get Chinese immigrants into the U.S. unlawfully. From June 2015-February 2021, Chen was the CEO and owner of two so-called educational consulting companies in Alhambra and Arcadia that charged foreign students thousands of dollars for "guaranteed" admission to a college that would lead to the issuance of an F-1 student visa. Murder trial. Deyun Shi, man accused of revenge on family. The prosecutor said Shi, a Chinese citizen, had plan to flee to Hong Kong after killing his 2 teenage nephews in Arcadia and an attack against his wife. Shi faces life in prison without parole if convicted in the January 22, 2016 killings of 15-year-old Anthony Lin and 16-year-old William Lin, and of injuring his wife the day before. The boys were bludgeoned to death in their home in the 400 block of Fairview Avenue in Arcadia.

At the request of the Medical Board of California, the license of Dr. Zhiwei Lin, an Arcadia-based neurologist, was temporarily suspended starting July 28, pending a determination of his fitness to practice medicine. He allegedly sold prescriptions for controlled substances, such as Vicodin, to an undercover federal agent.

An ancient Chinese maternity tradition, from the Sung Dynasty (960-1275 AD), known as "Zuo Yue Zi," is translated as "doing the month."It refers to the care of a Chinese woman during the first month after giving birth. The practice is explained here by Wei-Chen Tung, a former registered nurse at Arcadia Methodist Hospital and now an assistant professor of nursing at University of Nevada, Reno. The practice requires new mothers to follow a strict diet and rest for 3-4 weeks following a pregnancy. Tung says a lot of Chinese women still practice this, so hospitals should be aware of this part of Chinese culture. Maternity tourists--women who want to come to the United States to give birth to a full-fledged American citizen, have given rise to businesses that cater to them, such as the maternity home that was shut down in the 1300 block of South Palm Avenue in San Gabriel on March 8. It had been 5 townhomes illegally converted into a maternity home.

They gave money and talked to the kids about investing in the stock market. With profits they made from their investments, they established the Richard and Eric Dong Endowment Fund for Union Station to provide scholarships for children in sports, music and the arts, leadership, and human rights promotion, to buy books for the family library; to fund staff appreciation and recognition and to finance the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights educational programs.
