On September 8, 2011, Arcadia Mayor Gary Kovacic had an emergency procedure to put a stent in one of his 3 major heart arteries. His Left Anterior Descending (LAD) artery was 90-95% blocked. He was released from Arcadia Methodist Hospital (AMH) the following day and was back at AMH 24 hours later for a dedication ceremony of the new patient tower that has been under construction for some time now.

Twenty-six modular structures at the United States Forest Service (U.S.F.S.) site, located in the 700 block of North Santa Anita Avenue, were destroyed by fire on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in the early morning. There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. Preliminary findings indicate the cause of the fire was accidental.

While the Peacock Donut shop has 3 clearly marked handicapped spots, the lawsuit alleges that the rear access is not accessible to those in wheelchairs. John Ho has filed hundreds of such suits. Arcadia slowly steers Rusnak Mercedes Benz dealership expansion back on track. Because of a December 2011 California Supreme Court decision to eliminate redevelopment agencies, the expansion has been stalled. Arcadia is now working on a long-range property management plan for the expansion--a plan that is now required for state approval before former redevelopment agency property may be sold. The plan includes properties at 121-159 North Santa Anita Avenue.
