GPS in bait package leads to arrest of two Canoga Park women who drove through Arcadia in a stolen car. The arrested women are Devon Ricco Menendez and Unique Rios. Holy Angels Elementary School was closed yesterday because its head pastor, Reverend Michael Evans, has a sister named Teresa Evans, who is a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) sergeant, named by suspected killer Christopher Dorner (ex-LAPD), in his 11,000 word manifesto posted on Facebook last week. Dorner is suspected in the shooting deaths of three people--Monica Quan, daughter of Dorner's attorney during his review hearing, Quan's fiance, and a Riverside police officer. Dorner was terminated from LAPD and is believed to be on a killing rampage. Holy Angels School hopes to open tomorrow or Thursday. See also Arcadia Weekly, February 14, 2013.

Man arrested after shooting in Arcadia. A 47-year-old man was arrested Wednesday, August 10, for shooting and injuring an Arcadia police officer (shot in the jaw), the suspect's 73-year-old mother (shot in the chest) and the neighbor across the street (shot in the eye with stray bullet). All three are stable and expected to survive. The shooting and standoff happened at 2500 block of Greenfield Avenue due to a family dispute. The 26-year-old Arcadia officer has been with Arcadia Police Department for 6 months and has 3 years of previous law enforcement experience.

A home invasion robbery on December 12 resulted in the shooting death of 35 year old Jose Antonio Parra, while his girlfriend and three small children were locked in a bedroom. It happened on the 11000 block of Kristi Court in unincorporated county area near Arcadia.

A Monrovia firefighter, Fernando Rodriguez, 41, shot his wife, Katherine Rodriguez, and then himself in the parking lot of City of Hope National Medical Center. Arcadia and Los Angeles County fire teams watched over Monrovia after all Monrovia fire personnel were called in to hear the news.
