Arcadia faith leaders voice support for peaceful protests. Members of Arcadia Interfaith Action Group--representing the Baha'i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim and Sikh faith community--vehemently condemn the "senseless murder of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer." The group recognizes "that people of color are much more likely to be the victims of such violent treatment by law enforcement personnel."

On April 28, Arcadia Police Department hosts first in-person Coffee-with-a-Cop event since the onset of COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, at the Bowlero in the Westfield Santa Anita mall. Prior to the pandemic, coffee was held once every 3 months. Arcadia Police Chief Roy Nakamura, five lieutenants, several sergeants, and volunteer police attended, along with some city council members.

Tranquility of Arcadia disrupted by barricaded gunman. Arcadia Police officer and two civilians wounded when police responded to a domestic violence call in the 2500 block of Greenfield Avenue in Arcadia. The suspect Nurhan Venk, 47, allegedly shot the Arcadia police officer in the face, allegedly shot his 73-year-old mother Ankine Venk. A stray bullet hit an 83-year-old man across the street.

Ruixue "Serena" Shi, 36, of Arcadia, was arrested for allegedly swindling more than $20 million that was solicited for funding a condominium and hotel complex called Hyde Resorts and Residences in Coachella Valley. Shi was president and owner of Global House Buyer (GHB), a China-based real estate development company, and also was CEO of the Beverly Hills-based company Hyde Morgan Development, LLC.

Man arrested after shooting in Arcadia. A 47-year-old man was arrested Wednesday, August 10, for shooting and injuring an Arcadia police officer (shot in the jaw), the suspect's 73-year-old mother (shot in the chest) and the neighbor across the street (shot in the eye with stray bullet). All three are stable and expected to survive. The shooting and standoff happened at 2500 block of Greenfield Avenue due to a family dispute. The 26-year-old Arcadia officer has been with Arcadia Police Department for 6 months and has 3 years of previous law enforcement experience.
