Bay Area horse racing track Golden Gate Fields in San Francisco to close permanently later this year. After the Golden Gate Fields meet ends, The Stronach Group said it will focus on moving horses from the Bay Area to Arcadia, with a goal of increasing field sizes and adding a fourth day of racing to the weekly schedule at Santa Anita Park, beginning in January. Arcadia firefighter/paramedic Michael Herdman was remembered as a devoted father and animal lover, at a memorial service yesterday, at Arcadia Performing Arts Center. Hundreds attended. A green-colored golden retriever puppy named Wasabi was born to Goldie, owned by Peter Tseng of Alhambra. Greg Hardy, the veterinarian at Best Friends Pet Hospital in Arcadia, said when puppies are born, sometimes there is a green discharge that could stain their fur, but will usually wash off. Wasabi's case is unusual.
