Grocery Outlet Bargain Market opens new store at 104 East Live Oak Avenue in Arcadia. This location created 30 new jobs. Independent owner-operators are Chris Phillips and Amanda Sandoval.
British retail giant Tesco considers selling its struggling U.S. grocery market Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market. The El Segundo-based chain is losing money and Tesco has hired investment bank Greenhill to review options. Fresh & Easy has 200 stores in California, Nevada, and Arizona. There is a store in Arcadia (on Foothill Boulevard).
Arcadia-based grocery chain Vons, a division of Safeway Inc., headquartered in Pleasanton, California, is closing its Vons supermarket at 2340 Foothill Boulevard, LaVerne, California. It has been there for 10 years and is underperforming.
Hong Kong Supermarket, a New York-based company, will open a 25,000 square feet market at 935 W. Duarte Road, at the Mon-Arc Retail Shopping Center. It is the fifth Hong Kong Supermarket in the San Gabriel Valley, specializing in imported Asian groceries. It will serve customers from both Monrovia and Arcadia. Asians account for 10.9% of Monrovia's total population while Arcadia's Asian population is at 58.9%.

According to information given by Stu Henderson, current owner of King Pharmacy, the history of Graves Drug Store is as follows: Originally it was opened by Oscar Seaquist, later bought by Walter A. Graves. Some years later it was bought by R.B. and R.B. Bagnall Jr. (circa 1940's) and was relocated to 54 E. Huntington Drive. By 1950 the City directory listed it as owned by A.P.King and has been known by that name since.

Based on the description and surveillance video, Arcadia police believe the same man may have robbed two 7-Eleven stores this month. The most recent robbery took place on May 20 at the 7-Eleven at Live Oak and Tyler Avenues. The previous crime occurred on May 10 at the 7-Eleven at 1003 S. Baldwin Avenue in Arcadia.
A new Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market has opened in Arcadia. It is owned by Tesco, a British food giant. Tesco's labor practices have come under fire for relying on part-time workers, which may limit the ability of workers to earn a living wage.
Upscale H Mart Supermarket to have grand opening in Arcadia December 8. H Mart serves both traditional Asian and international food. It is over 40,000 square feet of retail space at 1101 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia, CA, on the site of a former Ralphs Supermarket.
A federal judge overturned several charges in the case of Arcadia man George Torres, 52, accused of running his Numero Uno grocery store chain in Los Angeles like an organized crime ring. He had been convicted of racketeering charges, solicitation of murder and multiple tax and fraud charges when prosecutors came forward with new evidence that appeared to exonerate him on the more serious charges. Torres was released from federal custody after being held without bail for two years.
