Group of youngsters, some wearing firemen's gear, in front of Fire Station at 50 Wheeler St. apparently on a tour of the facilities. The following is information from Dave Haney, Battalion Chief/Training Officer of the Arcadia Fire Department at 630 S. Baldwin, provided via email on November 18, 2007 : "The pumper in this photo was called 'Squad,' and was a Class B pumper, which means the fire pump is much smaller than the ones we have today (2007). It is a Mack with a 750 gallon per minute fire pump and a 400 gallon water tank. It ran as Engine 1 out of the Wheeler Station. When Wheeler Station closed, it was moved over to the Santa Anita Fire Station until she was retired. So far there has been some confusion over the year of manufacture of the pumper. Some old timers tell me either a 1943, 1944, or 1947."

Councilmember Sheng Chang is seen seated in a chair in the north reading room of the Arcadia Public Library, 20 W. Duarte Road. He is wearing a suit and appears to be reading a magazine. Photo was taken by Dorothy Denne of the Arcadia Weekly to be used in a display for National Library Week.
Dewey Butler's Sweet Corn Stand is shown next to the Santa Anita Motor Inn, which opened in 1938. There are four cars parked in front of the stand. Hand written note in scrapbook states, "Dewey Butler's - Golden Bantam Corn, and Melon Stand on Huntington Drive just west of the Santa Anita Motor Inn. The Sweetest corn and melon's you ever tasted, grown in the matchless soil of Old Rancho Santa Anita."
17 children and two adults pose on a stage in three rows. Children are dressed in various costumes. Written on back: Arcadia Children's Chorale "Around the World in Song," a performance of Disney songs. Directors William Pirigyi and Adele Pirigyi. Saturday, March 29th. Prior to Holly Avenue PTA movie. According to the perpetual calendar, March 29 was a Saturday in 1969 and 1975, so it could be either.
"Sunday in the Park," Arcadia's float entry in the 1986 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, features a Victorian family enjoying a walk in the park. The parents push a perambulator with the Arcadia Rose Court.
Dorothy Cunningham, born 1919, is a long-time Arcadia resident. She wrote the social column in the Arcadia Tribune for about 20 years. In this photo, she is probably about age 95. Dorothy was from Whidbey Island, WA and lived in Arcadia for at least 55 years. She worked as a nurse practitioner. Then, she wrote a column for the Arcadia Tribune for 22 years after a council person asked her to write it. She quit the column at age 90.

Carla Maggio shown sitting on floor by files in Arcadia Tribune office looking at an Arcadia Tribune dated 1933. Ms. Maggio was employed by Arcadia Chamber of Commerce during 1978 and she wrote many articles on facets of Arcadia's Diamond Jublilee year.
Arcadia Presbyterian Church at NE corner of First and Alice Streets prior to building new sanctuary in early 1970's. (Discrepancy in date of "c.1965." Per Teri Weeks, a long-time church member, this church building was torn down in 1961 and new sanctuary was built in 1962, so this photo was probably 1950s.
