Arcadia Politics Becomes Ever More Confusing. Arcadia residents tell us they are concerned that the redistricting rules have changed the city’s voting requirements so much that it is hard to vote for someone you are not familiar with. Therefore, some voters told Arcadia Weekly they simply don’t vote anymore. The recent council meeting was, indeed, contentious, as one of my colleagues wrote last week. It appears there’s a push to change the political environment back to at-large voting.

Why 15,982 Arcadians can't vote in this year's election. This is the first district-based election in Arcadia under the new law, only Arcadians living in one of the five districts may vote only for the representatives running in their district. Originally, there were three seats up for election but Mayor Pro Tempore Sho Tay ran unopposed and was appointed to the office.

Measure A passes in semi-official election returns, according to latest figures from Arcadia Unified School District. Measure A, the education parcel tax had 6,199 yes votes and 2,970 no votes. Out of 28,616 registered voters, only one-third came out to vote on this measure.

On April 28, Arcadia Police Department hosts first in-person Coffee-with-a-Cop event since the onset of COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, at the Bowlero in the Westfield Santa Anita mall. Prior to the pandemic, coffee was held once every 3 months. County test positive for COVID -19, and these 15,000 individuals who test positive each day were capable of infecting others for two days before they had any symptoms or knew they were positive, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said Monday. At least 10-12% of people infected with the virus end up hospitalized at some point, and more than 1% of people diagnosed with COVID-19 end up dying.
