Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin on left and Richard F. Carman Sr., one of America's early horsemen. Photo was taken probably about 1907 and printed in newspaper of March 1937 at the time of Carman's death. Carman's horses won four races and placed second in two others on opening day of Baldwin's Santa Anita Race Track.

The hands of two other people are at either side and someone's foot is propped on the table in the front of the photo. Lucky is looking to one side and smiling.

"Lucky" Baldwin. Her mother was Martha Agnes Fowler, who was acknowledged in Baldwin's will.

Title Insurance & Trust checked the heritage for us and found the building probably was built in late 1880's for Southern California Floral Farm & Perfumery Co. Building stood until 1962. As of 1980, an apartment building was on that location.
