He faces another attempted murder charge for allegedly shooting his 73-year-old mother in the chest. Ruixue "Serena" Shi, 36, of Arcadia, was arrested for allegedly swindling more than $20 million that was solicited for funding a condominium and hotel complex called Hyde Resorts and Residences in Coachella Valley. Shi was president and owner of Global House Buyer (GHB), a China-based real estate development company, and also was CEO of the Beverly Hills-based company Hyde Morgan Development, LLC.

Horse named Heaven's Music is dead, jockey Erick Garcia is injured, after a collision at Santa Anita Park. A racehorse named Mighty Matt collided with Heaven's Music during last Friday's fourth race. Heaven's Music suffered an ankle injury and was later euthanized. Heaven's Music is the 11th horse to die from a racing or training injury at Santa Anita Park this year.
