A woman shot to death, on 210 Freeway in Arcadia, was the target, CHP says. 35-year-old Bertha Hernandez was shot and killed on September 4, 2021. The suspected shooter, Sidney Terrance Johnson, is Hernandez's ex-boyfriend.

Hunt continues for gunman in Arcadia car-to-car shooting on the 210 Freeway near Baldwin Avenue which left a woman named Betty Hernandez, 36, of Monrovia, dead. This shut down the freeway for several hours on September 4. On September 5, two people were found dead, in the block of 600 West Huntington Drive, an apparent murder-suicide. Both victims were in their 50s.

210 Freeway closure creates 5-mile backup for 5 days. 605 Freeway also affected by work on a bridge. Caltrans is repairing a 50-year-old concrete bridge on the 210 Freeway spanning the San Gabriel River. Most affected were motorists and truckers from eastern Los Angeles County and Inland Empire, driving the preferred route into Irwindale, Duarte, Arcadia, Monrovia, Pasadena, and San Fernando Valley.

Arcadia couple accused of 60 Freeway hit-and-run that killed girl. CHP alleged 39-year-old Priscilla Cornejo was driving the wrong way when she crashed into the victims' car. Angelique Zarate died as a result. Johnathon Cornejo, 33, was charged with murder and being an accessory after the fact.

210 Freeway closure returns this week. For second time in a month, motorists face delays during a 5-day shutdown for bridge construction, closing eastbound lanes of the 210 Freeway from the 605 Freeway interchange to Irwindale Avenue. The delays may be more pronounced in the weekday afternoon during peak hours through Pasadena, Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, and Irwindale, as the eastbound lanes detour from 6 lanes into 3 lanes.

He faces another attempted murder charge for allegedly shooting his 73-year-old mother in the chest. Zoo Yang, an 83-year-old neighbor across the street was also struck by a stray bullet while he was watching his grandchild.

Monrovia man Yi Chen gets 4 years in prison for fraud in a student visa scheme to get Chinese immigrants into the U.S. unlawfully. From June 2015-February 2021, Chen was the CEO and owner of two so-called educational consulting companies in Alhambra and Arcadia that charged foreign students thousands of dollars for "guaranteed" admission to a college that would lead to the issuance of an F-1 student visa. Sam and Louise LaCorte have collected 24,671 signatures from people opposed to the parole of Richard Lanill Johnson, the man who killed their daughter. Johnson was convicted of shooting and killing Catherine LaCorte and Robert Morton in the foothills above Arcadia on February 11, 1976.
