San Gabriel Valley All-Star game ends season. The game was hosted by South Hills High School. Two longtime SGV coaches were inducted into the San Gabriel Valley Hall of Honor--Steve Gewecke of Alhambra and Dan Henley of Glendora. Gewecke had played for longtime Arcadia coach John Meiers.

High school football notes. Sierra Vista adds pair of nonleague games to schedule. The coronavirus-shortened high school football season begins today, giving teams a chance to play as many as 6 games this spring. But for most teams, especially those in San Gabriel Valley, schedules are still being finalized. Muir's Pacific League opener against Arcadia was scratched after Apaches had to shut down due to quarantine.

Judy Chu, D-Pasadena, push bid to expand area by 109,000 acres by designating the western Angeles National Forest as part of the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument. Bobcat Fire, on its 9th day in the San Gabriel Mountains, continued to grow north of the San Gabriel Valley. It had charred 38,299 acres Monday with containment at 3%. The fire has crossed to west side of Santa Anita Canyon. On Sunday, residents in Arcadia and Sierra Madre who live north of Elkins Avenue and east of Santa Anita Avenue were ordered to evacuate. About 305 homes were in the evacuation zone. Most are in Arcadia and 32 are in Sierra Madre.

Overall homeless numbers remain steady. A count has identified how many individuals are homeless in a city-by-city count. 4555 in all, in the San Gabriel and Pomona valleys, remained about the same as last year's count. Arcadia has 106, up from 77 last year.
